Break Camp and Advance! When the Lord speaks we must move lest we be found wandering as the Israelites did in the desert. (Deuteronomy 1&2) Read how God speaks to Moses in leading the Israelites Moses proclaimed to the Israelites all that the Lord had commanded him concerning them. Deut.1:3

The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed here long enough at this mountain. Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites… ( Deut.1:6,7…)

So I took the leading men of your tribes, wise and respected men, and appointed them to have authority over you as commanders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens and as tribal officials. ( Deut. 1:15)
See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your fathers, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. (Deut 1:21)
30)The Lord your God, who is going before you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your eyes, 31)and in the desert. There you saw the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.” 32) In spite of this, you did not trust the Lord your God, 33) who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go. (Deut.1:30-33)

The Lord has helped to choose leading men wise and respected men to appoint them to have authority of us to lead us in the direction they feel the Lord has given them to go. This direction will give us an opportunity as a whole to get out into the territory the Lord has given us to take possession of and teach the Gospel to those who are lost and bring them to a place of hope in the Lord. The Lord has gone before us and prepared the path. We have two choices to go in the direction He is leading or to wander around helplessly. The outcome: That many will know Him or as the Lord said in (Deut. 1:45-46) You came back and wept before the Lord, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you. And so you stayed in Kadesh many days— all the time you spent there.

Please pray we won’t become a Church that closes its doors because it’s too full or because it’s more comfortable. Pray we will be a Church that’s broken hearted for those who have no hope for eternal life. Remember God has gone before us!

Break Camp and Advance (Capital Campaign) Events

Kick off Event - October 12, 04
Banquet at Caruso’s Restaurant

By the time you receive this issue you will be well aware of the kick off event Banquet at Caruso’s. This is the first big congregational event although it has been preceded by a multitude of meetings and planning sessions. This banquet will inform us and challenge us as to the many aspects of this campaign. Aside from being a wonderful evening out it helps us get excited about all the campaign events that are coming. We’ll have testimonies, entertainment and a challenging message by Kenn Filkins from Sault Ste Marie. You’ll see some new and some old faces there and have a great time of food and fellowship. Childcare provided at the church building by Bob and Janice Saxton. It’s all free and it’s all intended to get you excited about this campaign and what God has in store for us at Antrim Church of Christ.

Visitation Week - October 17, 04
Getting into your homes

NO! They’re not going to ask for money! That seems to be the most asked question. No. No money, no commitment cards, no W-2s. Our Visitation volunteers have a wonderful brochure that they want to give you and explain. It talks about the campaign and gives you more inside information. This colorful brochure is something that you can keep, share with neighbors or friends. It has encouraging messages on it about the campaign. These visitation volunteers will be able to answer your questions about the future building plans, or the campaign itself. Most of all they want to pray with you! This campaign is centered around prayer. We want to know your prayer requests. So don’t be afraid to invite them over when they call for a visitation appointment. You won’t be sorry

Children's Poster Contest - October 17 - 24, 04
Getting our children involved

No one is too young or too small to be involved in the work of the Lord. You’ve already heard it announced and the children are already working on their posters. Soon you will come into our foyer and see colorful posters with our campaign theme proudly displayed. There will be a prize for every child that enters as well as winning prizes for each age category. We will have a set of impartial judges (they will be introduced soon) to select the winners. The posters will remain on display throughout the campaign. It will transform our church building and inspire every one who sees it. When winners are announced you can congratulate our winners. Watch and see how God moves these young hearts and how they get involved. This campaign is for everyone and our youth are doing their part as well. Don’t be surprised when you walk into a colorful poster filled foyer!

Leadership Event - October 28, 04
Leaders step out in front
Nothing will have a greater impact on people then having leaders lead. No one should ask others to go where they are not willing to go themselves. The same is true with the Break Camp and Advance campaign and the Leadership Event is where it happens. On October 28 the leaders of this congregation and all of those who are team leaders along with their spouses will gather for a banquet at Windmill Farms. Jerry Paul will be present to challenge our giving for this event. We leaders will be making pledges for our capital campaign on that night. The commitment cards will be turned in and tallied by the commitment team. On November 7th the total of the leadership commitment will be announced to the congregation to encourage and spur on those who follow with their commitments. We are praying that God will move in mighty ways among out leaders to challenge the entire congregation to give with equal sacrifice to this great cause we are beginning.

Bible Study Week - October 31 - November 5, 04
What does the bible say?

Beginning Monday November 1 we will host bible study sessions here at the church building for every member of our congregation. There will be evening sessions and some during the day to accommodate varying work schedules. This lessons will outline giving in the scripture as well as building programs that took place among God’s people. The sessions will be divided in half with the first segment being from the Old Testament and the second segment from the New. There will be a break in between with fellowship and a delicious snack. The bible study team is overseeing the refreshments and making sure that you have a good time as we study God’s word together. This is for everybody so please plan on attending one of the sessions offered.

Prayer Event - November 13, 04
Nothing happens without prayer
What makes this campaign under the Leadership of our consultant Jerry Paul different than other campaigns is the fact that he centers it around prayer. This is not your usual “fund raising” campaign. This is a spiritual challenge that stretches our faith in God. One of the many ways we to that is through prayer. Our campaign is hosting a prayer event that will precede our commitment Sunday. We will be in prayer for the growth of this church, for lost souls and especially for God to move in the hearts of the people of this church. We want God to do something so amazing through us that people would know that we could not have possibly done this . That way He gets all the glory. So we are hosting a prayer event for Saturday November 13th to ask God’s people to come together and pray. This will be the pivotal point of our entire campaign. You will already have the prayer book marks and other prayer tools. This will be an opportunity for this whole body to raise their voices to God for his powerful hand to do miraculous things through us.
